The extruder has a pair of screws and sleeves that have the function of mixing and twisting. After the raw material enters the expansion chamber, the material is squeezed, rubbed, sheared, etc. between the screw sleeves, and the internal pressure is continuously increased, up to 4Mpa, and the temperature is continuously rising, up to 140 degrees Celsius. During the period of 3-7s, the temperature and pressure increase sharply, and the structure of the material changes, which further gelatinizes the starch, denatures the protein, destroys the crude fiber, and kills harmful bacteria such as Salmonella. The high temperature and high pressure materials come out from the discharge port, and the pressure is suddenly released in an instant, and the water is partially flashed. After cooling, the material is loose and porous, and the expanded material is in the form of agglomerates, flocs or coarse chips.

1. The feeder is to ensure uniform and stable feeding, and adjust the feeding amount according to the rated current of the extrusion motor. Generally, the electromagnetic speed regulating motor or the frequency converter is used for speed regulation to change the feeding amount of the feeder. The outlet of the feed hopper is usually fed by a spiral auger to the extrusion section.
2. The puffing chamber is composed of a screw, a screw sleeve, a template, a card bone and the like. The screw and the screw sleeve are combined in stages, and the degree of compression can be adjusted according to the type and requirements of the expanded feed to change the degree of expansion of the expanded feed.
3. The puffing mechanism is divided into three segments according to the action and position:
Feeding section: This section has a large screw pitch, which mainly transports and compresses the material to fill the spiral groove.
Compression section: The screw groove of this section of the screw is deeper and shallower in the direction of material change, and the material is compressed.
Extrusion section: the groove is shallower, the pitch gradually becomes smaller, the pressing force can reach 3.0-10Mpa, and the temperature can reach 120-150 degrees Celsius. The pressure is the highest and the temperature is the highest, so the wear of the screw and the screw sleeve is also the most serious.
The outlet of the extrusion section is a template. The shape of the template is designed into different die holes according to the requirements of different feeds. The material is extruded from the die hole of the template, enters the atmosphere, and the pressure and temperature drop rapidly, causing the volume to expand rapidly. Rapid evaporation and dehydration solidification becomes a puffing material.
Cutter device: Generally, 1-4 pairs of cutters are installed close to the template surface, and the blade edge is sharp. The cutter is driven by an electromagnetic speed control motor or regulated by a frequency converter.
Spindle transmission: The main transmission is driven by the main motor through several V-belts to drive the main shaft pulley, which drives the main shaft (screw) to rotate.
